Vietnam Airlines has just inaugurated its direct flight route from Perth, Australia, to Ho Chi Minh City with flight VN790, carrying over 300 passengers, which departed at 12:50 AM on December 8 (local time). This is the third city in Australia that Vietnam Airlines has opened a route to, following Sydney and Melbourne.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates the Ho Chi Minh City – Perth route with a frequency of 3 flights per week. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City depart at 3:50 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while flights from Perth take off at 12:50 AM on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Perth is the capital of Western Australia, one of the most important economic hubs in Australia, with approximately 300,000 Vietnamese and people of Vietnamese descent living and working there. Before the pandemic, Vietnam was the 10th largest international market for Perth, and the second largest market without a direct flight from Perth. Meanwhile, Perth is the third largest market in Australia for Vietnam.

With this new route, Vietnam Airlines now operates 23 round-trip flights per week between Vietnam and Australia, averaging 3 flights per day. The total number of routes to Australia operated by Vietnam Airlines has increased to 5, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Melbourne; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Sydney; and Ho Chi Minh City – Perth. All routes are operated with modern wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
